For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation TO EVERYONE THAT BELIEVES; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek. For therein is the RIGHTEOUSNESS of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith.

Romans 1:16-17

The power of the Word of God shows up in our lives when we BELIEVE it! Just knowing Scriptures will not bring this power on the scene. Knowing isn’t believing! God’s Word on righteousness will begin to affect our lives more and more, the more we believe it! God says we HAVE been made righteous whether we feel like it or not, and when we BELIEVE it, we will begin to see the power of righteousness change things on the outside to line up with righteousness on the inside!

One of the best ways to break bad habits and overcome sin is to BELIEVE YOU ARE RIGHTEOUS! Believing is powerful! Faith on the inside is more powerful than anything in this world! God created the universe with faith filled WORDS! (Hebrews 11:1-3) As children of God, we too can change things even in our own being by BELIEVING what God said about us and talking like it’s a reality!

Our words of faith concerning our righteousness in Christ will override any and all motions of sin in our flesh and soul. You will find yourself conforming to what God made you on the inside the more you believe and confess that you ARE the righteousness of God in Christ! I wan’t to say it again” One of the best ways to overcome sinful habits, it to BELIEVE YOU ARE RIGHTEOUS!

BOLDLY SAY - I BELIEVE I am righteous! Jesus MADE me righteous by His sacrifice for Me! I am a new creation on the inside and that new creation is MAKING my outward life come in line with my new nature! I boldly say that I AM righteous!

For if by one man’s offence death reigned by one; much more they which receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness shall reign in life by one, Jesus Christ.)

Romans 5:17

God wants us to reign in life and we do so that by understanding we ARE righteous in Christ! Not reign over people, but over disease, demons and fear! There is no reason for a child of God to be under the power of any thing that brings bondage! If believers do find themselves under the power of any of these things Jesus redeemed us from, he or she can get out quick by realizing the truth about righteousness.

Notice that reigning in life is the result of receiving OF the gift of righteousness. You can HAVE the gift of righteousness and still not receive OF the gift of righteousness! Just like you can HAVE a car and never drive it. So many believers do not know they have been made righteous in their spirit and so they continue trying to be righteous!

Reigning in life is our right and privilege because we have been made righteous! Pray like a righteous person! Believe like a righteous person! Live like a righteous person and watch those things that have held you down begin to fall away from your life.

BOLDLY SAY - I have  been made righteous in Christ! I now receive OF the gift of righteousness! I pray like a righteous person and I believe like a righteous person because I AM righteous in Christ!

For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.

2 Corinthians 5:21

Christians are not sinners trying to be good. Christians are the righteousness of God learning to live out who they really are! We don’t try to be righteous and more then a man tries to be a man or a woman tries to be a woman. We are born Righteous upon our acceptance of Jesus Christ! We were MADE righteous when Jesus was MADE to be sin for us! Righteousness is our new nature imparted to us the moment we were born again!

Here is a definition of righteousness and a very similar word “Justified found in the New Testament: The state of being right. Not just acts, but nature. Innocent - Treated as one who has not sinned. God can now treat us as though we have never sinned! Because of Jesus taking our place and becoming sin for us, we can now BELIEVE in His sacrifice for us and be treated as righteous! God the Father sees us “In Christ” and He sees us as the ones having took all the punishment we deserved, yet is was Jesus our substitute! We are legally free from all the punishment of sin IN CHRIST!

BOLDLY SAY - I do not have to try to be good! Jesus MADE me good! His willingness to be punished for me has set me free from what I deserved! I have been MADE the righteousness of God in Christ!

Discover new ways of expressing you new, unique personhood in Christ, ways which are in harmony with who you really are.

Ephesians 4:24 Johnson Translation

Who are you REALLY? Are you what you FEEL you are? Are you what you THINK you are? As a born again believer in Jesus, you are a new creation and that new creation is righteous! It is so important to realize this one truth in order to live in the abundant life Jesus provided!

It’s not what you “feel” that’s the most important thing. It’s what you know. Just because you feel unrighteous does not mean you are unrighteous. When you understand righteousness, you understand God HAS to answer your prayer. When you understand righteousness you understand your’e complete mastery over the devil and all demons.

If you see yourself as a sinner, you will act like a sinner. If you act like a sinner, you see yourself as a sinner. When you see yourself as the righteousness of God in Christ, you will begin to live like it. Instead of only trying to live a righteous life, realize you are righteous through faith In Jesus and just start living like you ARE!

BOLDLY SAY - I am what God says I am! God says I am righteous! I live like I am righteous! I am not trying to BE righteous! I am righteous, therefore I live like it! Now I discover new ways of expressing my new unique personhood in Christ!

Awake to righteousness, and sin not; for some have not the knowledge of God: I speak this to your shame.

1 Corinthians 15:34

Notice that the Bible doesn’t say: “WORK UP TO righteousness.” We don’t have to work up to being righteous! We are told to “WAKE up to righteousness” and then, “sin not.” It’s time that the church “wake up” to this life changing truth: As a believer in Jesus, YOU ARE RIGHTEOUS! Being made righteous is the gift of God given to every believer in Jesus!

Believers need to wake up to the truth, that, we will never be any more righteous than we are right now. A thousand years from now we will not be any more righteous then we are today. You may feel like you are not righteous, especially after a mess up, but you ARE! Just like a sinner can do some righteous acts and still be a sinner at heart, so a righteous man can slip into some sinful acts and still be righteous. Believers have been made righteous in their spirit (their nature) and actions of sin won’t change their nature, though actions of sin do need to be cleaned off of that new righteous nature when called for.

“If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” 1 John 1:9. Notice how a believer doesn’t need to be MADE righteous again when he sins, the Bible says he need to be CLEANSED. You can get sin “ON” you as a believer and God has provided a way for the believer to be CLEANSED!

BOLDLY SAY - I am waking up to righteousness! I don’t have to work up to being righteous! I am living out what I am on the inside! I live righteous because I AM righteous, not to try and be righteous!

Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ:

Romans 5:1

We are justified BY faith and not by trying so hard to live right! When we were born again by confessing Jesus as Lord and believing in our heart that God raised Him from the dead, we BECAME righteous! “Justified BY faith,” means it was not by our works that we were made righteous, but by our faith in Jesus Christ!

Our nature was made righteous the moment we accepted Jesus as our Lord and Savior. We have been MADE the righteousness of God in Christ! 2 Corinthians 5:21. We will never be any more righteous than we are now. How much more righteous can a person be who is already the righteousness of God in Christ?

Righteousness is not a fruit; It’s a GIFT! Fruit grows, but the gift of righteousness doesn’t. Now, our UNDERSTANDING of righteousness needs to grow so we can appropriate all the wonderful benefits of being made righteous!

BOLDLY SAY - I am the righteous of God in Christ! I don’t have to earn right standing with God! My nature is righteous! I am living out what I have been made in my spirit! Thank you Jesus!

Therefore to him that knows to do good, and does it not, to him it is sin.

James 4:17

Not doing what the Lord told people to do is a big reason they keep doing what God says don’t do! Falling for the same temptations time and time again is usually the result of not being filled and strong enough to resist those temptations when they come, but if people would DO what the Lord instructs them to do, then they would not fall into so many sins of commission.

Sins of commission are a little different than sins of omission. The sins of omission (Not doing what you know to do), weakens people so they have no power to overcome sins of commission. (Doing what you know you shouldn’t do). Here are some sins of omission that lead to many sins of commission:

  1. Refusal to be filled with the Holy Spirit.
  2. Refusal to seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness.
  3. Refusal to walk by faith.
  4. Refusal to walk in love.

So many sins of commission can be traced back to “not” being filled and strong enough to resist. Many people are not “bad” people as to why they keep falling into the same sin, they are most probable just empty or weak. But DOING what the Lord tells us to do by being filled with the Holy Spirit and seeking God first gives us the willingness and power to overcome every temptation.

BOLDLY SAY – Father, forgive me for NOT doing the things that keep me from doing what’s wrong! I take the instruction of “Be filled with the Spirit” very seriously! I do not have to overcome temptation in my own power! The power of the Holy Spirit in me helps me walk in total victory over every sin!

And David was greatly distressed; for the people spake of stoning him, because the soul of all the people was grieved, every man for his sons and for his daughters: but David encouraged himself in the LORD his God.

1 Samuel 30:6

Don’t get upset if no one is encouraging you when you need encouragement! You can encourage yourself in the Lord any time you need too! David was in a very distressing time. His own people were planning on stoning him! He just lost his entire family to the enemy! He was in a lot worse shape than many of us will ever be in, BUT he encouraged himself in the Lord! We can do the same thing today! No matter what the crisis and no matter if anyone is around to encourage us! We can encourage ourselves in the Lord and rise above it all with total victory!

Ephesians 5:18-19 tells us how to encourage ourselves in the Lord.

And be not drunk with wine, in which is dissoluteness, but be filled in the Spirit, speaking to YOURSELVES in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in YOUR heart to the Lord. Ephesians 5:18019 TLT

Many church people think it’s the pastors and the praise and worship leaders responsibility to get them encouraged and up-lifted and if they don’t do a good job, they think about going somewhere else where they can be encouraged. God says, “Speak to YOURSELF in psalms, hymns and spiritual songs…” Sometimes we need to do this ourselves when no one else is around to do it for us! Not doing this equals the need for others to do it for you.

If believers would get in the habit of speaking to themselves every morning before they leave the house in psalm, hymns and spiritual songs, which also would include speaking in tongues and interpreting, they would not always be needing others to lift them up and encourage them! After David encouraged himself in the Lord, he overtook the enemy and recovered EVERYTHING that was stolen! Thank God for people the Lord will send to us to encourage us, but don’t forget that you can also ENCOURAGE YOURSELF IN THE LORD any time you need too!

BOLDLY SAY - Thank God for those God sends me when I need refreshed! But I also thank God I can go to Him any time I need encouragement and be refreshed! I do not always need someone else to encourage me! I encourage myself in the Lord my God and He helps me get total victory over ALL challenges!

We love Him (God) because He first loved us.

1 John 4:19

When we understand the love God has for us we are going to want to love Him back. Jesus said loving Him was obeying Him. (John 14:21,23). When we understand the love God has for us, we are going to want to obey His every Word to us. Doing things for someone you love is not supposed to be a “works” thing. Many times in our own relationship with our parent or parents, we stay away from temptation to do wrong because we know it would displease them. Our love for our parents is seen in our saying no to what we know they don’t want for us.

People are tempted every day to veer off into compromise and sin. Did you know you can go for months without yielding to temptation? The more our love for God grows, or the more we remind ourselves we really do love the Lord, the more we will live separate from sin.

If we are hearing the truth about “God loves Me,” then we will be wanting to do those things that please Him and it won’t be a works thing! If it’s still “works” to “love God” and resist temptation, then something is missing in ones perception of God’s love for them!

BOLDLY SAY - God is helping me to see more and more of His great love for me! Because of His love for me, I WANT to love Him and keep His Word! It is not “works” for me to resist temptation, walk in the light and obey His every Word! I enjoy my walk with God!

We love Him, because He first loved us.

1 John 4:19

When you are in a love relationship with someone, it’s no longer “works” to do those things that please the one you love. The tendency is works when there is no relationship. When we are acutely aware of the love relationship we are in with the Lord Jesus, not only will we be recipients of the good things He does for us, but we will also be joyfully passionate about doing what pleases Him. “We love Him BECAUSE, He first loved us!” If doing what pleases the Lord becomes a “works” thing, then it’s time to remind yourself of His great love for you and your love for Him.

Take some time and meditate on your love relationship with the Lord. Remind yourself of how much God loves you and that your love for Him means more to you than anything and anyone! If you feel that your good deeds done are somehow a necessity to earn God’s blessings, then go back to “why” you are doing those good deeds and get back into “Relationship Results” instead of works only!

BOLDLY SAY - I am in a love relationship with the King of Kings and Lord of Lords! Jesus is my forever first love! His love for me and my love for Him means more to me than anything and anyone! My love for others is greatly enhanced because of my love connection with God first and foremost!
